Hell of a Day - part 1

This was our last day in San Diego, and we started out walking around downtown a little which was cool, kind of and interesting mix of Disney Land and Toranto... I don't think we really saw enough of it to, but there was just not enough time... we headed from there down to the USS Midway an Air Craft Carrier in the Harbor (http://www.midway.org) and it was pretty amazing. I have never been on a giant ship like that before and at first I thought it was not going to be worth the money but I was pleasantly surprised... it took hours to get through it all and I think in the end we skip ton of the planes and the birds nest because of time, but it was still great. They took you up and down through the ship, which I think was to make you feel more like a sea man having to go through your daily duties in the confided passageways... They told us about all the parts of the ship, how all the different rants slept and ate, it was really intersting. I know this trip ment a lot to Meghan whos grandfathers on both sides have experience with the navy and the airforce. After that we checked out downtown a bit more, ate and headed onto our next adventure...

Balboa Park and a little of San Diego

It has been a great day, completely exhausting. We started the day early because we are still on east coast time, which really worked out for us... for once we actually left the hotel and got somewhere early!!! Yes I said early mark that on your calendars...East coast time we would have been late but west coast time we rock. After eating breakfast and doing some of the planning for where we were going to go for the day, we headed out to Balboa Park. This really is a beautiful place, an amazing mix of beautiful mix of architecture and foliage. The park has houses many museums, and it houses the San Diego Zoo(which would have been fun to go to but we didn't have enough time).

We hung out in the park most of the day, saw some amazing wood and fiber artist at the Mingei and then drove around San Diego for a bit taking in the sites. We stopped in Little Italy for dinner and has some great food, then headed home to rest for tomorrow.

One Correction...

One correction from yesterday my pancake was at least 15 inches across maybe bigger... I have never seen anything like it... I think they had to use a shovel to flip it that thing... this is just the left overs of half that I ate for breakfast this morning. Look at this... some of that was stacked two thick... I still could not eat everything and just decided two days was more then good enough for left overs and threw a little way.

Why Blog?

well since it might be hard to find the time to email everyone on our trip we thought it might be fun to share the experience with everyone like this... that way we are only writing one thing every day and you can see pictures and maps of what we are doing... or we will have internet to send something. I am not really sure what will happen, but I don't know if we will have wifi every night when we stop, but will write a little something every day and upload as soon as we find a hot spot... Well I am going to keep this short and sweet, talk to you soon hope you enjoy this...

The Eagle Has Landed

We decided to take a 2 week vacation, well deserved at that. We left NYC after work Tuesday and drove up to Connecticut. We left the cats and fish in care of some neighbors and got in the car with the pupppers. We arrived at my parents house around 11:30 pm. Our flight out of Bradley International Airport was to take off at 5:30 am . We went to bed and got about 2 hours of sleep before it was time to get up and start getting ready.
Jump to now. So we are in the hotel right now. Our flights went fine and we finally got some sleep on the planes. We went to this diner place a friend recommended for brunch (though it was only 1120ish here) called Hash House A-GoGo. They have HUGE portions!! DJ got a 14 inch diameter pancake with coconut and mangoes and I had a framers scrambled egg thing with this really savory chicken in it along with mozzarella, roasted red peppers and corn. It came with home fries (crispy!) and a fresh buttermilk biscuit with a piece of watermelon on the side. It was so much food we had to take half of it with us, but luckily our hotel room has a mini fridge.
Right now DJ is taking a quick shower and we are changing into shorts cause man it is warm!! It only in the 70's but it feels so much warmer. I guess it's the different air quality and elevation and such, but 70 here is not like 70 in CT or NY
On the way to the hotel, after eating we really wanted to take showers, but since it was only noonish and hotel check in was 4pm we had a bit of a dilemma. I called the hotel and they said they would have the room ready in the amount of time it took us to get from Balboa Park to the hotel in La Mesa. We had to borrow some unsecured Linksys Wireless internet to get on google maps and get directions from our location to the hotel. We arrived with few incidences.

** TIME PASSES**

After the showers and a mini nap we went off to find the AAA office. Man it was gigantic!! Sadly since all the regional offices are really separate, they couldn't give us much help since the NY offices were already closed. We are gonna go back first thing in the morning tomorrow and see if we can get a card then (DJ left his in the apt.) We did get a lot of maps of the area, and of course as a map person that made me super happy :)
After this we went in search of the Target we saw on a hill in the distance to get some snack and a case of water. It turned out to be an indoor/outdoor mall. We shopped, we walked and we ended up in BJ's Brewhouse- La Mesa. We each had the 7 beer sampler and some great dinner. I ordered the open-faced burger smothered in the pale ale chili with seasoned potato wedges. DJ ordered the open--faced Pot Roast sandwich covered in mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy on a garlic cheese roll with steamed veggies on the side. All around I gave it 1 and 1/2 thumbs up. A full thumb for the food (not to mention we have a whole extra serving left in the mini fridge now) and a half a thumb for the beer. I didn't think they were amazing, they had a delayed flavor reaction, but the hubs liked them. I liked the Hef... I called it "my puffin"
Now we're in the hotel room in our jammies. It is almost 9pm local time, which is midnight back home. We are wiped from the lack of sleep last nite and the whole travel thing. We're off to bed.
Good night All!!

**PICTURES WILL BE POSTED TOMORROW,HOPEFULLY IN THE MORNING!**
